Plumbing Vents work better when the cap is removed

Here is a great example why you should have a home inspection no matter how old or new the house is. This inspection was on a house that was less than 2 yrs old and still had the caps installed on the plumbing vents!

The purpose of a plumbing vent in your house is to remove sewer gases from the drainage system and equalize its atmospheric pressure. Without the plumbing vent, our toilets and all other home plumbing fixtures might not be draining properly, can cause unusual noises (like gurgling or belching as and after they discharge), and could be responsible for an unpleasant sewer gas smell inside the house. On a new construction house, this should have been removed by the plumbing contractor or even your home builder should have checked it.. Sometimes I have been on inspections and seen the surrounding houses with the same issues. A house plumbing vent is one of those features that may easily become compromised.

A house plumbing vent is one of those features that may easily become compromised. If you are having issues like this just look up at your vents to make sure they do not have the caps still on them. Or you can call us for an inspection.
